Instagram is testing hiding like counts from followers

Instagram is officially launching an experiment in Canada to hide like counts from posts’ viewers. The creator of the post is still able to open the Likers window to check the names of users who liked the post. The objective is to allow followers to focus on what being shared in the post instead of how many likes the post gets. Ultimately, Instagram hopes to reduce the sense of competition amongst users through this initiative.

The test is performing internally and whether this design will get an official release or not will depend on the result of the test.
