1. Change in Digital Footprints of Travellers after Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge launch

  • The Hong Kong Immigration Department shows a decrease in passenger traffic by sea, particularly a drop of 26.1% at Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan
  • Intensity of footprints along the ferry route has apparently reduced

 

2. The percentage change of mobile activeness among Hong Kong, Mainland and Macao travellers during trip

  • Hong Kong Travellers’ mobile usage is apparently lower from dawn to evening time.
  • Mainland travellers are generally more active in mobile usage during daytime. The only exception during daytime hours is noon (i.e. 12pm), where their mobile activeness drops to 0.03%.
  • Macau travellers have a similar daily mobile usage pattern with Hong Kong travellers, where they are more active during daytime (i.e. 9am-5pm) relatively.

 

3. App Usage of GBA Travellers

Hong Kong Travellers

Pre-trip: Tend to be highly engaged with financial-related ads while apparel product related ads become relatively less significant when they are out of town.

During trip: Tend to fall in video games and cosmetic products, followed by travel services with CTR at 3.16%.

Mainland China Travellers

Pre-trip: Mainland travellers’ interest is still highly engaged with financial related ads, ranking 1st in the list

During trip: Not only show high interest in home décor related ads, they also show significant interest in Hong Kong’s racing activities and lottery as well

Macao Travellers

Pre-trip: Similar to Mainland travellers, Macao travellers are interested in Hong Kong’s racing and lottery events.

During trip: Similar to Mainland travellers, Macao travellers are interested in Hong Kong’s racing and lottery events. They are also keen on ads relating to health care products and electronic appliance, but become less
